A Gaggle of Gourds

Once cured, hard shelled gourds will last indefinitely and can be painted, carved, cut or drilled to make birdhouses, bowls, planters and hundreds of other craft projects. This gourd mix includes Birdhouse or Bottle Gourd, Calabash or Penguin, Corsican, Dipper, and Speckled Swan. The Gaggle of Gourds, 'Lagenaria siceraria', is an assortment of hard shelled gourds that creative crafters will love. Place in full sun. For thousands of years, gourds have been grown to used as utensils, storage containers, musical instruments, and ornamental objects. Gourds are very frost sensitive. Vinca - Little Pinkie The Vinca Little Pinkie, 'Catharanthus roseus', is the perfect plant for that really hot and dry location. It blooms best when other plants are hurting from the heat. Little Pinkies can be grown as a perennial in frost free winter areas. It readily reseeds itself and is very drought tolerant. Little Pinkie Vinca should be planted in well drained soils and in full sun or very light shade. This low maintenance plant prefers regular waterings in sunny hot locations. The Vinca Little Pinkie is used in containers, ground cover, and borders. This plant is also known as devil's eye or sorcerer's violet.
