Basil - Cinnamon
The Basil Cinnamon, 'Ocimum basilicum', has very attractive violet stems and veining with lavender flowers. You can enjoy your summer garden while sipping a cup of cinnamon basil tea. Cinnamon is not just in the name, it is in the aroma and flavor. In addition to being used in all foods where basil has an impact, Cinnamon basil is delightful as a tea or potpourri. The sweet flavor is excellent combined with other fruity flavored herbs. Basil is used in so many foods, it is hard to mention them all. It is used in Italian foods and pesto and pasta sauces. Pea - Shelling - Green Arrow The Pea Shelling Green Arrow, 'Pisum sativum', is a very productive, dwarf plant with large 4 inch pods containing 9 to11 wonderful sweet peas per pod. Remember when you were a kid how fun it was to pop open a pod and eat the Peas? As an adult, you will enjoy the wonderful taste of Green Arrow peas and appreciate the dwarf, 2 foot vines for ease of growing. Green Arrow is very disease resistant. The pods are set in pairs atop the plant for easy harvest. In mild climates, plant in the fall for winter harvest. Peas prefer well drained soil. Keep the plants moist but do not get them over watered and soggy. Shelling peas should be harvested when the pods are plump which is about 3 weeks after flowering. |
