Bee Balm - Petite Wonder
The Monarda ‘Petite Wonder’, Monarda didyma, also known as Bee Balm, Bergamont, Horsemint, Oswego Tea, is a clump-forming perennial that has tubular, two-lipped, light pink flowers with dark green aromatic foliage. ‘Petite Wonder’ stands at 12’ high and has a plant spread of 12-18” and blooms from July to August. If deadheaded, (remove old flowers from plant) longer bloom times will be encouraged. It is one of the smallest Monarda in its family and has the darkest foliage. Monarda needs to be planted in full sun, but will tolerate afternoon shade. Petite Wonders are best grown in rich soil in a well-drained area, not being allowed to dry out. The leaves of Monarda can be used for teas and in salads. Attracting hummingbirds, butterflies and bees, particularly when massed, Monarda provides color and contrast for the perennial border, wild garden, meadow, and herb garden or along ponds or streams. ... details
Hibiscus - Kopper King - USPP 10,793 The Hibiscus ‘Kopper King’, is the most popular variety of the Fleming Hibiscus. Named by James Fleming himself, it has a plant height of 4’ and beautiful 12” flowers. The flowers are white with red centers that fade to pink as it streaks through the veination to petals edge. The foliage took over 20 years to develop and refine and one can see why. Unlike most hibiscus, ‘Kopper King’ has maple-cut, copper-red shaded leaves, with some leaves having copper on both sides. It is best to plant this Hibiscus in a full sun area and it will tolerate most soil types. ‘Kopper King’ looks wonderful with grasses, as a background plant or with Hibiscus ‘Old Yella’.
