Bugbane
The Hillside Black Beauty Bugbane, 'Actaea s. Hillside Black Beauty PP#9. 988', is a perennial that is perfect for woodland gardens with constant (but not stagnant) moisture and a deep layer of organic topsoil. The Latin name for Bugbane used to be Cimicifuga, but the name change hasn't altered the appeal of this shade-garden favorite one bit. 'Hillside Black Beauty' has the darkest leaves available in the species and their white flowers glow all the more brightly because of it. It is hardy zones 4-8. ... additional info
