Candytuft - Evergreen
The Candytuft Evergreen, 'Iberis sempervirens', has beautiful pure white flowers that cover this evergreen ground cover in the spring. Native to Europe, Candytuft has been used for centuries as an edging or border between lawns and taller plantings. The flat heads or clusters of stunning pure white, four-petaled flowers are on stems that are long enough to use in cut flower arrangements. The Candytufts bloom in early spring for 8 to 10 weeks. In mild climates they can bloom as early as November. The Evergreen Candytuft prefers full sun and average garden soil that is well drained. Do no let plants dry out or they will stop blooming. Pea - Shelling - Green Arrow The Pea Shelling Green Arrow, 'Pisum sativum', is a very productive, dwarf plant with large 4 inch pods containing 9 to11 wonderful sweet peas per pod. Remember when you were a kid how fun it was to pop open a pod and eat the Peas? As an adult, you will enjoy the wonderful taste of Green Arrow peas and appreciate the dwarf, 2 foot vines for ease of growing. Green Arrow is very disease resistant. The pods are set in pairs atop the plant for easy harvest. Plant in the early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. In mild climates, plant in the fall for winter harvest. Peas prefer well drained soil. Shelling peas should be harvested when the pods are plump which is about 3 weeks after flowering. |
