Coleus - Kong Red
The Coleus Kong Red, 'Coleus hybrid', has bright green edges with a red midrib and burgundy red veins. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized container gardening. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow however they are tender annuals. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. Celosia - Fresh Look Yellow The Fresh Look Yellow was 2004 All American Award Winner. Celosia Fresh Look Yellow is another celosia, and a wonderful partner to Fresh Look Red. Celosia Fresh Look Yellow is bit stouter than its companion and it also covers itself in plumes throughout the summer, offering numerous side-shoots that blankets the plant in pure yellow. It, too, is self-grooming and tolerates a wide range of conditions. When grown in the full sun, 'Fresh Look Yellow plants mature at 12 to 18 inches tall and spreads 12 to 20 inches. The central plume can be 8 to 10 inches tall and 5 inches wide. Like all Celosia plumosa, the flowers can be cut and dried for long lasting homemade bouquets. As with all celosias, 'Fresh Look Yellow' performs best in the full sun. It is also a Fleuroselect Quality Mark Winner. |
