Plants suffering from "wet feet" will be stunted, leaves will turn a muddy brown, and leaf margins will be scorched. The coleus plants are a tender perennials. For zones 10-11, this plant can also be a perennial. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized contanier gardening. Poorly drained soils and excessive watering will damage coleus. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Celosia - Pink Glow The Celosia Pink Glow, 'Celosia plumosa', also known as Cockscomb, is one of the most colorful foliage plants for beds, borders, pots, planters and window boxes. The Pink Glow has bright plumes that crown the dwarf, 9 to 11 inch tall plants with excellent branching. Like all Celosia plumosa, the flowers can be cut and dried for long lasting homemade bouquets. This plant is vigorous and is an excellent performer.
