Coneflower - Sunrise
The Coneflower Sunrise, 'Echinacea purpurea', is an easy to grow flower that produces beautiful citron yellow daisy-like flowers. The center of this coneflower starts out green and turns gold. Blooming from July to October and a major attractor to butterflies and bees and deer resistant, it is a must for any perennial gardens. With its dark green foliage, Echinacea ‘Sunrise’ stands 30-35” high with a plant spread of 18”. For best results, plant in full sun in a well drained area. Echinacea is known for its large flower heads that turn to seed in the fall. A great choice for cut flowers, adding a wilderness look to your garden, combining great with Leucanthemum ‘Becky Daisy’ or in cottage gardens, it is a definite must. Not only is it a prized perennial for many gardeners, but it is also said to be a potent medicine. Geranium - Pink The Geranium ‘Pink’, Geranium sanguineum, has a rich magenta mallow-like flower that blooms from June untill August. With its beautiful dark green foliage, it has a plant width of 18-24” and a height of 15”. ‘Pink Geranium’ needs to be cut back in early summer for repeat bloom time in the fall. ‘Pink Geranium’, being drought tolerant, needs a full sun area with some shade in the afternoon. For best results, plant in a dry to moist area in a well drained site. The Geranium family is well known for its stunning fall colors that include reds, oranges, and yellows. It is a superb plant for cottage gardens, container growing, borders or informal borders in mass plantings. There is a somewhat attraction to bees and butterflies but it is very disease and deer resistant. A great plant for a beginner gardener. |
