Coreopsis - Sweet Dreams
The Coreopsis ‘Sweet Dreams’ is a wonderful new variety to the Coreopsis family. The dark green thread-like foliage makes a great contrast with its tipped white flower bleeding into a dark raspberry center, blooming from June through October. ‘Sweet Dreams’ is extremely drought tolerant with a plant height of 18” and a spread of 18-24”. With cool autumn weather, the flowers make an even more outstanding color scheme. ‘Sweet Dreams’ should be planted in full sun. It is drought-tolerant and tough but does need well-drained soil. It should be cut backing early and late summer to extend the bloom period. Coreopsis ‘Sweet Dreams’ looks great with any type of grass, in borders or mass plantings in sunny gardens. Coneflower - Little Giant The Coneflower Little Giant, 'Echinacea purpurea', is an easy to grow flower that produces beautiful, huge clear pink daisy-like flowers. It is named little because it is short and giant because of its huge 5” bloom size. ‘Little Giant’ is a dwarf form of ‘Giant Ruby’. With its dark green foliage, Echinacea ‘Little Giant’ stands 12-14” high with a plant spread of 12”. For best results, plant in full sun in a well drained area. Echinacea is known for its large flower heads that turn to seed in the fall. Not only is it a prized perennial for many gardeners, but it is also said to be a potent medicine. Echinacea is said to increase immune function, reduce the effects of colds and flu’s, fights off viral, bacterial and fungal infections and purify the blood and flush waste from the lymphatic system. |
