Dahlia - Mignon Silver

The Dahlia Mignon Silver, 'Dahlia variabilis', has elegant, pure white flowers that are most enjoyed during the evening as the the twilight dulls other garden colors. For white flower lovers, this beautiful flower is a must for your beds, borders, or large containers. The large 3 inch pure white flowers bloom continually from summer through fall. Mignon Silvers prefer full sun and in very hot summer climates, and they prefer some afternoon shade. Place then in rich, well drained soils. Keep them well watered but not soggy. Carrot - Babette The Carrot Baby Babette, 'Daucus carota var staivus', is a gourmet mini-carrot that was bred in France. The foliage is very strong and will not break off when pulling it up. Did you know that grocery store carrots are actually cored regular carrots? Once you try the sweet and crisp flavor of this "true" baby carrot, you will never look back. The first sowing should be 2 to 4 weeks before the last frost. Do successive planting every 3 weeks until 70 days before the first fall frost. In very warm climates carrots are grown primarily in the fall. The single most important factor in growing carrots is to have a deep, clod and rock free, well drained soil. A 50% peat moss mix with the soil is ideal.
