Daisy - Dandenong Daisy™ Purple Blush
The Daisy Dandenong Daisy ™ Purple Blush, 'Osteospermum hybrid', a Proven Selections plant, originates from Australia's Dandenong Mountain Range. Dandenong daisy's are a unique series of long-blooming Osteos. The beautiful purple blush flowers are attractive and the compact habit exhibits excellent heat-tolerance. Daisy's require a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil and should be kept well watered in the summer. Daisy's may be used as a cut flower and they are excellent in window boxes, pots, and rock gardens. The daisy is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds, plus they are resistant to deer. These daisys are winter hardy to USDA Zones 10-11 and they are grown as an annual in other cooler climatic zones. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional bloom. Herb - Lemon Grass The Lemon Grass, Cymbopogon citratus, is a very fragrant grass and it is a versatile performer in the kitchen where it can be used in teas, beverages, herbal medicines, and Eastern inspired soups and other dishes. The leaves of this plant are used for many medicinal purposes. They can be dried and used in the making of Vietnamese and Thai curries. This tropical grass grows in dense clumps that can grow to 6 ft in height. The evergreen leaves are bright bluish-green and release a citrus aroma when crushed. It is the leaves that are used as flavoring and in medicine. They are steam distilled to extract lemongrass oil, an old standby in the the perfumer's palette of scents.
