The Geranium Amethyst, 'Pelargonium x peltatum', is an ivy geranium that has beautiful dark lavender flowers. These ivy geraniums provide a mass of color for your enjoyment all season long. Geraniums are a favorite bedding and container plant and are grown in almost every region of the country. These plants have succulent leaves and stems and they are commonly called garden geraniums, zonal geraniums or ivy geraniums. They are excellent in containers of all types from small pots to large tubs to window boxes and combine well with other plants such as petunias and ivies. Geraniums are one of your best choices for use in hanging baskets. Plant in ordinary well-drained soil. Over fertilization results in excessive foliage and few flowers. Streptocarpella - Concord Blue African Violet The Streptocarpella Concord Blue African Violet, 'Streptocarpella; a Proven Selections plant, is a shade loving member of the African Violet family. The lovely blue blooms hover over the felted leaves. Streptocarpella is a small, tender basket plant from southern Africa that quickly grows to eight inches tall with a spread of 12 inches across. It branches freely and produces soft, velvety green leaves that are about two inches long. Streptocarpella should be grown in a well drained, organic potting mix in either a hanging basket, window box, or decorative container. Concord Blues are absolutely great for baskets and pots. For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial.
