Ginger - Wild
The Asarum American Ginger, 'Asarum canadense 'American Ginger', is a wonderful ground cover that is grown for its foliage rather than it's flower. It has a plant height of 6-8” and is extremely heat tolerant. The redish to green flower blooms on ‘American Ginger’ appear in early spring and continue into late spring. Most of the flowers are hidden by the heart-shaped leaves that are produced. The foliage is shinny at the surface and the leaf stem is hairy at the base. ‘American Ginger’ will do wonderful in rock gardens or as a border. Try mixing colors of other groundcovers with ‘American Ginger’ such as Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip’ or Houttuynia ‘Chameleon’. ... more information
Phlox - White Flame The Phlox White Flame, 'Phlox paniculata', is an ideal ground cover with masses of huge, white, pristine flowers and a thick mat of foliage. ‘White Flame’ is a new variety with variegated foliage and a pinkish tinge near the tips or the leaves. Blooming from April to May, it has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12-18”. It is a definite addition to any perennial garden. ‘White Flame’ needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. Use ‘White Flame’ in rock gardens, as a spread over curbs and short retaining walls, or in difficult edges of dry streambeds. |
