Hosta - Francis Williams

The Hosta ‘Francis Williams’, Hosta sieboldiana, is a large Hosta with wide yellow margins that surround blue-green centers, making it very striking. The white flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta’s are not known only for their flowers. With a plant height of 24” and a spread of 48-60”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage. Hosta ‘Francis Williams’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area. Hosta ‘Frances Williams’ is perhaps the most widely grown of the big Hostas. Iris - Mother Earth The Iris Mother Earth, Iris', part of the reblooming Bearded Iris family, has creamy oyster standards with lavender blush and falls and 8-10 blooms per stem. With a velvety texture and beautiful evergreen foliage, it has a plant height of 37’ and a width of 18-24”. This Iris blooms heavily in early summer and then reblooms in late summer, ‘Mother Earth’ is an attractive backdrop for your garden and is an easily grown Iris. The Iris ‘Mother Earth’ prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun, but will tolerate some afternoon shade. This Iris needs plenty of water throughout the season to continue to looks its best. Iris ‘Mother Earth ’is useful in many ways. Best used around pools, ponds and water gardens, and for mass plantings. It can also be used in difficult banks for preventing erosion. They also make magnificent cut flowers and are resistant to deer.
