Hosta - Gypsy Rose

The Hosta Gypsy Rose, Hosta 'Gypsy Rose', is a sport of the popular hosta Striptease. It is a medium sized hosta that has a creamy white to yellow leaves with a wid green margin and stems producing lavender colored flowers. The lavender flowers of this fast growing hosta bloom in late summer, however, hosta’s are not known for their flowers. Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage and Gypsy Rose is no exception. Gypsy Rose needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained spot. Obedient Plant - Variegata The Obedient Plant Physostegia ‘Variegata’, 'Physostegia virginiana', has bright white spiked flowers that are 36” tall and a plant spread of 18-24”. ‘Variegata’ blooms from June to September and the waxy, green leaves have bright white margins that makes this plant a little different from other white blooming perennials. ‘Variegata’ needs a full sun area but will tolerate some afternoon shade, in well-drained soil. ‘Variegata’ is not as aggressive as most other Physostegia. Use ‘Variegata’ in borders, mixed plantings, massed plantings (especially to separate other colors), in large containers or as cut flowers. Try darker colors such Hemerocallis ‘Little Business’, Platycodon ‘Balloon Flower’ or Veronica ‘Royal Candles’ as a contrast.
