The Toad Lily Purple Beauty, 'Tricyrtis formosana', exhibits beautiful orchid-like florets lavishly speckled in vivid royal purple. It blooms profusely in a moist shade garden, producing dozens of florets on each stem from July through August. Toad Lilies are great for the shade garden where they tower gracefully above other perennials, like ferns and Astilbe and Hosta. Prefers some shade, especially in hot climates, and performs best in rich, moist soils. These toad lilies are interesting plants.
