Northwood Maple
The Northwood Maple, Acer rubrum 'Northwood', is an excellent shade tree with ascending branches and a round, oval form. The dark green summer foliage turns orange to red in the fall. This maples is easily grown in well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of soils, but requires moist, slightly acid conditions for optimum growth and color. It is very cold hardy. Reaching an height of 50 feet and a width of 35 feet, it is an excellent specimen tree for the lawn, street or park. Tatarian Maple The Tatarian Maple, Acer tataricum', is quite similar to Amur Maple and the two species readily hybridize when grown together. Tatarian Maple grows slightly larger and is naturally more tree like in growth habit. The Tatarian Maples are slightly larger and usually develop a good red coloration when maturing. Fall color is usually yellow to reddish brown. A good tree for planters or patios. It has excellent small tree form and good foliage quality. |
