Peashrub - Pygmy

Pygmy Peashrub, Caragana pygmaea, is a slow growing plant used as a formal hedge. Small bright yellow flowers emerge from year old wood in late spring. It grows to 3 feet, has a 3 to 4 foot spread and is very hardy and drought tolerant. Great small hedge or screen for difficult growing conditions since it tolerates poor soils, drought and wind. It needs to be planted in full sun, and follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can be reduced after establishment.
