Penstemon - Prairie Dusk

The Penstemon ‘Prairie Dusk’, Penstemon barbatus, has tall vivid purple tubular blooms and dark green leathery foliage. Blooming in early summer, it has a plant height of 30” and a spread of 12-18”. The foliage on ‘Prairie Dusk’ is beautiful all year long. It is best to plant Penstemon in a full sun location, having a moist, well-drained area. Being drought tolerant, ‘Prairie Dusk’ looks great in a perennial border, in a naturalized setting or for cuttings. In order for a longer bloom time, deadhead the blooms continuously throughout the summer. These fragrant, spicy dove like flowers look wonderful as a border plant, rock gardens, along walks or paths, for edging and a definite in cottage gardens. They are especially stunning when paired with white or silver.
