Phlox - Purple Flame
The Phlox Purple Flame, 'Phlox paniculata', is an ideal ground cover with masses of tiny dark purple flowers with a white center and a thick mat of foliage. ‘Purple Flame’ is a new variety with variegated foliage and a pinkish tinge near the tips or the leaves. Blooming from April to May, it has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12-18”. It is a definite addition to any perennial garden. ‘Purple Flame’ needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. Hosta - Stained Glass The Hosta Stained Glass, Hosta 'Stained Glass', is a sport of the hosta Guacamole and was Hosta of the year in 2006. It is considered one of the best hosta's to be released in years. It has shiny, deeply veined, golden foliage which almost appears to give the leaves a stained glass effect. Each leaf is surrounded by a dark green margin. The fragrant lavender flowers of this hosta appear in late summer, however hosta’s are not known for their flowers.
