Scabiosa - Blue Diamonds
The Scabiosa japonica 'Blue Diamonds’, also known as Pincushion Flower, is a dwarf selection that only reaches 6 inches tall. The wonderful lilac-blue flowers bloom from June to October. ‘Blue Diamonds’ is a reminiscent of a pincushion full of pins. With its green foliage, it has a plant spread of 12-18", and it is disease resistant. It is best to plant Scabiosa in full sun, with well-drained soil and should be watered regularly throughout the warmer months to increase its overall performance. Deadheading after the first bloom will encourage repeat bloom time. ‘Blue Diamonds’ is great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds and does excellent in rock gardens. It will do excellent for front-of-the-border areas, with Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam', Dianthus 'Bath's Pink', in mass plantings or as cut flowers. ... additional information
Yucca - Color Guard The Adam's Needle, 'Yucca filamentosa ‘Color Gard’, is a clump forming perennial with yellow strips down the middle of the dark green foliage, looking ribbon-like. In the winter months, the foliage turns pink. The creamy, bell-shaped, white flowers hover over the foliage and are fragrant. The red coloration on the long blades highlight the flowering crown. ‘Color Gard’ has a plant height of 24” and a spread of 36”. It should be planted in full sun and in a well-drained area. ‘Color Gard’ looks great in a subject garden or in containers and is also a butterfly attractor. |
