Spiderwort - Satin Doll

The Spiderwort Satin Doll, 'Tradescantia andersoniana', has compact and upright green foliage with large pink flowers. The flowers open for one day but new blooms appear from June to October. With a plant height of 12-15” and a spread of 18-24”, it is one that should not be missed. The contrast of the flower color and foliage make it a definite eye catcher. Deadhead after the first flowering to prolong its blooming time. Tradescantia ‘Satin Doll’ should be planted in a sunny area, but will tolerate some morning shade, with well-drained soil. It will tolerate damp soil but should not be over watered. ‘Satin Doll’ mixes beautifully with wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant and attracts butterflies.
