Sweet Pea - Knee High Mix

The Sweet Pea Streamers, 'Lathyrus odaratus', is a new blend with streaks of vibrant colors including blue, orange, chocolate, and scarlet. They are like the streamers on a maypole which is a wonderful celebration of spring. Streamer is a "flake" type of flower with bold pattern of dark streaks of color on a light or white background. They make an excellent cut flower. A key element in successful growing of the Sweet Pea Melody Blend is very early planting. The sweet pea prefers deep, rich, fertile soil. Use lots of peat or compost for early spring planting. Plant this Sweet Pea in full sun, but in a cool a spot as possible. Position them away from winds and rotate locations from year to year to prevent sweet pea pests. In cold climates plant the seed in early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. In warm climates, plant in October through January for spring bloom. They are used for cut flowers, ground cover, fence and wall covering, and in large pots. ... more

 

Caraway The Caraway, 'Carum carvi', produces a seed tastes like a combination of dill & anise with a nutty flavor. The tasty seed are commonly used in breads, soups, stews, and other dishes. Try grinding up fresh seed and sprinkle over fresh popcorn! The flavor is like a combination of anise and dill. The Caraway is a mounded plant with finely cut leaves. Caraway prefer well drained soil.
