Viburnum - Alleghany

Alleghany Viburnum, viburnum x rhytidophylloides 'Alleghany', is a dense, compact rounded shrub with abundant, yellow-white flowers in spring, and then followed by brilliant red fruit in fall, that matures to black in winter. It has deep green foliage during the season, and is tolerant of hot, dry locations. Alleghany is adaptable to full sun or partial shade. It is much hardier than the leatherleaf viburnum, and it grows well at both extremes of its hardiness range. It prefers a moist, well-drained soil, but extremely windy sites should be avoided.
