Yarrow - Appleblossom

The Yarrow ‘Appleblossom’ , 'Apfelblute' or Achillea millefolium, is an upright soft pink flower. ‘Appleblossom’ blends well with other perennial flowers that exhibit floral colors such as white, pink, lavender, blue, and purple. With the fern-like foliage, this Yarrow has an aromatic smell when crushed and makes excellent cut and dried arrangements. The flower heads are 2-3” wide, with a spread of 18-24” and a height of 24”. ‘Appleblossom’ Yarrow is excellent for mass planting in perennial borders, wild gardens or meadow gardens. It is inclined to spread, so site this carefully. This Yarrow can tolerate poor soil conditions, but does best in lean, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil. (Avoid heavy clays and moist, rich, fertile soils. ) Yarrow should be planted in full sun and is tolerant to hot humid summers. It has wide, deeply veined, green leaves with gold and white running down the center of each leaf. The violet flowers of this hosta appear in mid summer, however hosta’s are not known for their flowers. Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage and Striptease is no exception. Striptease will handle partial sun or shade and should be planted in any moist, well-drained spot. This low care perennial is ideal for shady spots, tubs and patio pots, and is one of the most popular landscape plants. A great choice for any beginner gardener.
