Zinnia - Persian Carpet
The Zinnia Persian Carpet, 'Zinnia haageana (mexicana)', creates a carpet of warm, festive colors in your flowerbed. The Mexican Sinnia is very heat and drought tolerant and it attracts butterflies. The 1 to 2 inch single and double flowers appear in purple, red, and chocolate with white and yellow tips. They are easy to grow and for long hot summers, and nothing beats Zinnias for brilliant bloom color and long blooming period. This Zinnia will bloom from early summer through late fall. Persian Carpets prefer full sun and rich, deep, well drained soil. They need to be well watered but not soggy. Plant in late spring, 2 weeks after the last average frost date. Pea - Shelling - Green Arrow The Pea Shelling Green Arrow, 'Pisum sativum', is a very productive, dwarf plant with large 4 inch pods containing 9 to11 wonderful sweet peas per pod. The pods are set in pairs atop the plant for easy harvest. Plant in the early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked. In mild climates, plant in the fall for winter harvest. Keep the plants moist but do not get them over watered and soggy. |
